Sunchang “Ian” Kwon

B.TCM, R.Ac

Growing up in South Korea, Ian came to understand the benefits of natural medicine early on. As a high-level athlete who practiced Taekwondo, Judo, kickboxing, and was a competitive bodybuilder, visiting the doctor for acupuncture or herbal medicine to treat his aches and pains was common practice. His experience with these natural therapies and their effectiveness as well as his interest in the human body led him to study these therapeutic modalities in China.

After a 5-year program, Ian was awarded a bachelor’s degree in traditional Chinese medicine from Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine, one of China’s leading Chinese medicine universities. His program included an internship at the Nanjing Red Cross Hospital as well as a year long internship at the Jiangsu Provincial Hospital of Chinese Medicine where he gained experience in the areas of internal medicine, gynaecology, orthopaedics, traumatology, paediatrics, and tuina (Chinese massage), among others.

Ian uses the healing modalities of acupuncture, electroacupuncture, tuina, moxibustion (heat therapy), cupping, guasha (scraping) in his practice with the aim of bringing the body back into balance.
